The Family is a critical part of God’s plan of
happiness. We were formed into families before we came to this earth and are
living as families here. This must be important to God. He ordained marriage as
being between a man and a woman because He knows this is the only way to create
life and creating life is His plan from the beginning.
Adam and Eve were married; we find this information
at the end of Genesis chapter 2. God created man and knew he should not be
alone so woman was created. They were to be together and help one another. Then
once they partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they
had to leave the Garden of Eden and began to form a family. God saw it
necessary to have families then and it is just as important today.
Not only is marriage ordained of God, but so are
families. Thus procreation must be saved for marriage between a man and a
woman. In THE FAMILY: A Proclamation to
the World the very first paragraph makes this exact statement. This
document comes from God through His prophets on earth today. It states: “We,
the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a
man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of
His children” (bold added for emphasis).
I know
this to be true and I know that it
comes from God through His prophets who do
live on this earth today even as Adam, Moses, Noah, Isaiah, and Jesus Christ
Himself.
I am a child of God, And he has
sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home with
parents kind and dear.
I am a child of God, And so my
needs are great;
Help me to understand his words
before it grows too late.
I am a child of God. Rich
blessings are in store;
If I but learn to do his will I’ll
live with him once more.
I am a child of God. His promises
are sure;
Celestial glory shall be mine if
I can but endure.
Lead me, guide me, walk beside
me, help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do to
live with him someday.
